another technology expierence

Well is another technological experience under my belt. Wonderful experience today using a audio pod cast conference call for CEUs. Forget the paper and pencil stuff this is the way to do it. A group of nurses sitting in a conference room hook up to a conference call with other hospital which contained more nurses. We were able to listen to the lecture and ask questions to the speaker regarding the presentation. Again nurses from all over the dfw area were able to take part in a program.

Learing experiences with technology

Well the semester is getting closer to the end YEA!!! I have learned a great deal about technology this semester. And this is coming from someone who looked at technology and wanted none of it. I am also very fortunate that I work at a hospital with very advanced technology to help me along in the learning process. I had my first experience video pod cast. Amazing tool- 3 class rooms could see each other and interact from 3 different locations. This was important because 1 instructor could instruct- with the shortage of nursing instructors this seem like a very important way to help out with the nursing shortage.

Developing Evaluation Tools

Well I am not sad to say the semester is coming to a close and I am HAPPY! I really have enjoyed this class. And I take from it some valuable information regarding developing evaluation tools. Not only did I have a project in this class but it coincided with a project at work where I need to develop a tool so that I was able to understand the results of a survey. The whole concept was pretty scary when I first started this class but now I understand it much more clearly and it really helps me understand better when I read journal articles and I am trying to understand the tools they used and the results they obtained- Thanks for the learning experience!!

Evaluation tools

I am very fortunate that I have the chance to practice what I am learning in the course in my job. I recently had the wonderful opportunity to work on a research project that goes along with an abstract myself and another nurse wrote. I was in charge of designing an evaluation tool for the program-scary!!! However it was a great learning experience for me. I realized many mistakes that I had made on the evaluation tool we are developing for this course, and gave me a chance to make changes. I am very thankful for the opportunity to have this expeienve it has really given me a better grasp of the concept and I was able to see where I was going off trake.

Core Competencies

I recently have been given the project of reviewing the nursing core competencies at my hospital. I have to admitt alot of the homework projects we have been doing have been followinf hand in hand in my new position at work. I think when you get the opportunity to practice what your learning everyday it becomes alittle clearer for me. I lot of the time I feel I am walking in a cloud.
But learning about evaluations have really come in handy when taking on this job. It has clarified what I am looking for. It seems to be all coming together.
Maybe there is a light at the end !!!!! YEA!

The changing evaluation outcome

Well I have had to apply my evaluation outcome knowledge to my work this evening. I rcently started a new position at work, which requires reading evalutaions to a learning proram we have for student nurses. This as been a wonerful program and was in place before I started. But as perfect as I think it is the students had wonderful suggestion on how to fine tune the program so they could get even more from it. Again this show that programs are not ever finished , improvement can always be made. I also feel that as an instructor if you stop looking for improvment through program evaluation your students may suffer.
Any thoughts??

OK I can't Spell!!!

OUTCOME EVALUATION

Octcome evluation

After reading about programs and their evaluations. I can really understand the difference now between a good program evaluation and a bad one. I recently attend an in hospital conference that this was the case. I left feeling that I had learned nothing from the presentation . And a little more confused that I did when I first when it. Not only was the program evaluation not defined the class room make up was (to me) not taken in to consideration. Another key factor I have studing about in class.. I should have taken the opportunity to write down my concerns in the course evaluation ,but at the time I truly thought that I had really just not unnderstood the presentation (long day - subject that was not my favoriate).
Has this append to others!

Education evaluation

Once again it is time to learn about a whole new concept while on the path to be an educator.
Education evaluation looks a little scary when I first started readling about it. Its a process, but a very involved process which is mulifaceted. I understand the measurement of the program is my goal. My question is how do I as a new edcation know if I have set a goal that is obtainable for my students. Their grades, NCLEX or how they perform while out on the floor of a hospital after graducation. Time we have in class is very quick and I want to make sure that I make goals obtainable for the students that they do not get frusrted with.
Any thoughts!!
