Core Competencies

I recently have been given the project of reviewing the nursing core competencies at my hospital. I have to admitt alot of the homework projects we have been doing have been followinf hand in hand in my new position at work. I think when you get the opportunity to practice what your learning everyday it becomes alittle clearer for me. I lot of the time I feel I am walking in a cloud.
But learning about evaluations have really come in handy when taking on this job. It has clarified what I am looking for. It seems to be all coming together.
Maybe there is a light at the end !!!!! YEA!

Double-dip whenever you can, whenever it's ethical to do so. <-- That's my philosophy. If I had all my masters and doctoral years back, I'd write something for publication or do something for work in each class. Just a little extra time is all it takes to turn a paper into a work of scholarship.

Has the program thus far been helpful for you in your position at work overall, or are you just now finding that you can combine projects? How has this program affected your employment, all things considered?

Real-world application is great for learning and retaining all of this info. Rock-on and try to fit as many of your school projects with your work projects as you can.

Hi Donna,

Boy, that's a great opportunity for you to be able to get real life experience to solidify in your mind what we are learning in our classes. Good for you!

Good Luck with it!

I have also found that it's wonderful when you can immediately apply what you’re learning to what you are doing - but sometimes the fit isn't easy. I'm using the project in this class to evaluate our nursing orientation program. Only the time, resources, and participation by others is seriously limiting what I will be able to do, compared to what I'd like to do, based on what I'm learning. Still that’s the reality of it – the difference between theory and practice.
